The last four kilometres are serpentines on a small mountain road, which may look scary if you are not used to those. But trust me, two cars can pass without problems. The last two kilometres are on a gravel road which can be a little tough for low cars. If you decide for a rental car, consider getting a SUV, but standard cars get there without problems, too. If you worry about driving up the hill, then park the car in the valley and we will pick you up. It's not far.

Where to stay

Parma

Parma city centre with duomo and battistero
Parma city centre with duomo and battistero

Staying in Parma is convenient and lends itself to visit the beautiful city, duomo and famous battistero. There are plenty of hotels, guest houses and B&Bs.Try to get something in the historical city centre to enjoy the Italian atmosphere on a warm summer evening. If your budget is very restricted, we can try to arrange couch surfing, just ask.

Alexandra and I will be returning to Parma in the evenings.  We could all meet up for an aperitivo at Piazza Garibaldi, followed by dinner in one of Parma's typical trattorias. After all, Parma is one of UNESCOs Creative Cities of Gastronomy!

If you don’t come by car, then get an accommodation in Parma city centre, and we can take you to the clinic location and back, which takes 35 minutes.

Accomodation closer to the clinic location

Maybe you prefer the countryside or want to be closer to the clinic location, maybe to check on your horse?

If you enjoy sleeping in a tent, listening to the wolves howling (for real!), then you can camp at the farm.

But if you prefer a less adventurous, more luxurious accommodation and come by car, then check these B&Bs (ordered by distance to the clinic location):
